I’m happy to say the new pedestrian bridge is in place today and no more zip line. There was a garbage truck receiving garbage on the other side and it looked like some volunteers were collecting garbage in pickups throughout the pueblo and carrying it across to the waiting garbage truck. Coming into the pueblo were bottles of potable water, empty tanks of gas leaving and full ones returning, supplies for the stores were also entering. El Morro the first grocery store in town appeared to be well stocked with the basics and the prices appeared to be fair. There was also a mobile store on the other side of the bridge with various necessities for sale.

Someone suggested to me that you should ask for a receipt for purchases signed by the store if you suspect price gouging, there is a formal system through (PROFECO) of denouncing stores that gouge and the receipts are required to make the case. There was no rain yesterday or last night and after touring the town there is not a lot of evidence of the storm damage except in those areas that were closest to the river.

I have heard that the main highway is open in both directions leaving from SP but could be very slow going with only one lane of traffic open in some areas and could change at any moment. Taxis and Colectivos are waiting on the other side of the SP Bridge to transport people to their destinations, I haven’t heard about bus service yet. I did see some tourists crossing the foot bridge with their suitcases so generally things look a lot better today. I haven’t heard any news about a provisional bridge for car traffic yet but that would be the next big break.
