Hurricane Jova was quite a bit of hype. Better safe than sorry!

The worst of Hurricane Jove is long over as it petered out into a tropical depression of rain once done doing a bit of flooding in Colima (Photos: http://jova.pen.io)

Costa Alegre was in the direct path of the 100-mph (160 kph) winds and heavy rains causing a mudslide in the village of Cihuatlan that swept away a house on a hillside, killing two of its occupants, said Oscar Mejia, the spokesman for the Jalisco state Red Cross rescue division.

Flooding was so bad in Cihuatlan the Red Cross office had to be evacuated because it was flooded with about four feet (1 1/2 meters) of water.

The affected spots North of Manzanillo, Barra de Navidad, , Melaque, Costa Careyes, Tamarindo, Las Alamandas, Cuixmala, Hotelito Desconocido may have CFE (electric company) and Telmex (phone/internet) busy reconnecting power to the people.

Flooding is often the real problem. When cars, homes, roads and bridges washed away it gets ugly for many communities. Puerto Vallarta and the Bay of Banderas breathes a sigh of relief.
