The paint­ing will be priced at £30,000,000 to £40,000,000 and all the pro­ceeds will ben­e­fit The Andrew Lloyd Web­ber Foun­da­tion, a char­ity founded by the cel­e­brated com­poser in 1992. A unique Patek Philippe chrono­graph wrist­watch (pic­tured right) fetched US$5,708,833 (€4,393,192) on May 10 to set a new record price for any yel­low gold watch ever sold at auc­tion. With nearly 370 watches offered, Christie’s “marathon auc­tion” in Geneva achieved an out­stand­ing total of US$21,099,940 (€16,237,307), with a record atten­dance of 831 bid­ders from five con­ti­nents.
